The Definition of “Dust Jacket”

Fact Checker 5000 Logo

On January 22, 2022 Mike votava wrote on his blog:

Webster’s Dictionary defines a dust jacket as:

A Dust Jacket is a stupid annoying thing that covers a hardcover book. It does not actually protect the book from getting covered in dust. A dust jacket is just a clever name for this marketing tool designed to help sell the book. Dust jackets are also used to annoy the crap out of Mike Votava. They are really good at that.

I have checked the facts, and even though that it is true that dust jackets are good at annoying Mr. Mike Votava, most of the above statement is false.

Websters Dictionary defines a dust jacket as “a paper cover for a book”

The saying “What Would Swayze Do?” is ten thousand times better than the saying “What Would Jesus Do?”

Fact Checker 5000 Logo

On August 31, 2021 Mike Votava made the claim on his blog that the saying “What Would Swayze Do?” is ten thousand times better than the saying “What Would Jesus Do?”.

I have checked the facts and can confirm that it all checks out.

Contrary to unpopular belief, the saying “What Would Swayze Do?” is indeed exactly ten thousand times better than the saying “What Would Jesus Do?”.

In fact, some of the world’s leading Swayze scientists speculate that “What Would Swayze Do?” might even be one million times better than the “What Would Jesus Do?”

So Jesus, if you are reading this right now, feel free to suck it.

Mike Votava’s copy of the book Born Standing Up by Steve Martin was stolen

Fact Checker 5000 Logo

On March 33rd, 2021 Mike Votava made the claim that his copy of the book Born Standing Up by Steve Martin was stolen from him.

I have checked the facts and can confirm that it all checks out.

The book Born Standing Up was one of many possessions that were inside Mike Votava’s backpack that was stolen from him while having fun at a dive bar in Seattle. Other items included his recently used workout clothes and incredibly smelly workout shoes, a toothbrush, and a sandwich he had been saving for later. The backpack was briefly left unattended while Mike Votava brought down the house with a karaoke rendition of Peter Gabriel’s’ “Sledgehammer”. And that’s when the backpack, along with the book inside, was stolen from him.

Mike Votava was so mad when he realized what had happened that he smashed an almost full pint of beer on the table, sending shards of glass and beer in all directions. He was having a bad week.

Consider this fact to be officially checked.

Mike Votava’s Dad always used to say “If it’s good enough for the Beatles, it’s good enough for me”

Fact Checker 5000 Logo

On February 2nd, 2021, in a blog post published on mikevotava.com about his newest hit song “I Took A Nap Into Town”, Mike Votava claimed that his Dad always used to say, “If it’s good enough for the Beatles, it’s good enough for me”.

I have checked the facts and can confirm that this is not the case.

Mike Votava’s Dad has never once said, “If it’s good enough for the Beatles, it’s good enough for me”.

I firmly believe that this fact check is 100% accurate. If you believe, for whatever reason, that it may not be, please contact Mike Votava’s Dad immediately.

Fact Checker 5000 Logo

On May 25, 2018 Seattle musician Mike Votava sent out an email newsletter to his less than dozens of fans. He claimed that “Memorial Day weekend is 80 days long.

I have checked the facts and can confirm that this is not the case.

Memorial Day weekend is not 80 days long.

Memorial Day weekend is only three days long. And if my fact-checking math is correct (and it always is), that is exactly 77 days less than stupid dumb Mike Votava’s bullshit claim. What a dummy.

Consider this fact to be fact-checked.

Fact Checker 5000 Logo

*This fact was submitted by Kerry Garvin via the Submit Your Facts form.

The exact amount of kids that New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has fathered has been a hugely debated topic the last few years. Is it ten, three, fifteen, zero, twenty-five? Nobody knows for sure. And in this day and age, quite frankly, it is is really hard to tell. It’s not like there is a magic box out there where we can just type in our questions and it will give us answers. If only it were that easy.

No matter which side of the debate you fall on, Factchecker5000 is here to set the record straight. We will get to the bottom of this Eli Manning kids debacle.

We recently constructed a hand written letter, specifically addressed to Eli Manning himself. It reads:

Dear Eli Manning,

How many kids do you have? I would like to know.

Thanks,
Fact Checker McGee

Eli Manning has yet to respond but we will let you know as soon as he does. Until then, we will have no way of knowing for sure how many kids Eli Manning has. So you can all stop arguing about it like a bunch of ding dongs.
